What Is the iexplore.exe Error?

The iexplore.exe error affects the Internet Explorer Web browser on the Windows operating system. Internet Explorer was created by Microsoft and comes pre-installed on all modern versions of Windows.
  • Symptoms

    • The iexplore.exe error appears in the form of a pop-up when you attempt to open the Internet Explorer web browser. The pop-up states "IEXPLORE.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows."

    Cause

    • The iexplore.exe error may be caused by three different things: ZoneAlarm (personal firewall program) being installed on your computer, Quarterdeck CleanSweep being installed on your computer or if your computer is running a program that is damaged or incompatible with the Windows operating system or your version of Internet Explorer.

    Fix

    • You can fix the problem by uninstalling ZoneAlarm, uninstalling Quarterdeck CleanSweep or uninstalling the damaged program. Note that some viruses also generated various error messages and thus you should consider running an anti-virus program.
