Uses

Viton products seal fuels and lubricants, inorganic acids and hydrocarbons. These products include gaskets, seals, hoses and nozzles used in the chemical, automotive, aerospace and petroleum industries.
History

DuPont introduced Viton in 1957 as the first commercial fluoroelastomer. Other companies also make fluorocarbon-based synthetic rubbers. The generic name for this type of synthetic rubber is FKM.
