JetBlue Airways is a low-cost airline serving locations throughout the United States and the Caribbean. Its main hub is John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City. The airline flies two types of aircraft, an Airbus A320 and the EMBRAER 190. Both aircraft are reported to offer passengers more seat and legroom than coach seats in other aircraft.

    About the Aircraft

    • JetBlue aircraft have High Efficiency Particulate Arrestor (HEPA) filters which replaces the air within the cabin every two minutes. The cabin temperature is maintained at 74 degrees, but each passenger may adjust personal air flow with the air vents located above each seat. Each aircraft is equipped with a galley in the front and rear of the plane.

For passenger comfort there is more legroom than other planes as the seats are positioned farther apart. All seats on JetBlue aircraft are equipped with an entertainment system which includes 36 channels of DirecTV and XM Satellite Radio. On flights that are at least 2 hours in length movies are available from FOX InFlight.

JetBlue offers the use of "aisle chairs" in the gate area and on the aircraft for non-ambulatory passengers. The aisle chairs are designed to fit the aircraft aisles allowing passengers to maneuver about the cabin. The chairs can be used to get to restrooms but do not fit within the restroom.

    Airbus A320

    • Passengers flying on the Airbus A320 will find plenty of space as this aircraft has the widest fuselage of any single-aisle aircraft. The aircraft has 150 leather seats with a three-seat by three-seat configuration. The seat width is 17.8 inches offering more width than other aircraft coach seats. More overhead compartment space for storing carry-on baggage is available as well. Three restrooms are available on the Airbus with one located in the front of the cabin and two in the rear. All restrooms contain changing tables. The highest altitude flown on the Airbus A320 is 39,000 feet.

    EMBRAER 190

    • This aircraft also offers its passengers plenty of space with 100 leather seats configured two-seats by two-seats, giving all passengers either an aisle or window seat. The seat width on the EMBRAER 190 is slightly wider at 18.2 inches. This aircraft is equipped with two restrooms, one located in the front of the cabin and one in the rear. Restrooms contain infant changing tables, grab bars and accessible faucet handles. The cruising altitude for the EMBRAER 190 is 41,000 feet.
