Where to Locate the Temperature Sensor on a 1994 Chevy S-10 4.3

The 1994 Chevrolet S-10 saw many styling changes from the previous, first-generation lineup. Two optional 4.3-liter Vortec V-6 engines were available for the 1994 model year, along with a standard 2.2-liter four-cylinder. All engine configurations utilize a coolant temperature sensor, which aids the onboard computer and corresponding dashboard gauge with vital information concerning the engine's temperature. A malfunctioning coolant temperature sensor will cause erratic gauge readings as well as provide your vehicle's computer with incorrect temperature information.

Open the hood and secure it using the hood prop located above the vehicle's grille. Locate the large, black radiator hose connected between the top of the radiator and the middle-front portion of your engine.

Follow the radiator hose to where it connects to the rounded thermostat housing on the engine. The coolant temperature sensor is located to the left of the thermostat housing and features a two-wire, oval-shaped connector.
