Will the Government Pay for Solar Power on a Home in Arizona?

Solar power technology can be expensive, but Arizona residents can lower costs by taking advantage of government-sponsored tax benefits.
  • Tax Credit

    • Arizona residents can claim a one-time solar energy credit that is equal to 25 percent of the cost of installed solar devices. The maximum credit allowance in one tax year is $1,000 per residence.

    Eligibility

    • Individuals who are Arizona residents are eligible to take advantage of the solar energy credit. In order to qualify, an Arizona resident cannot be a named dependent of another taxpayer.

    Requirements

    • In order to qualify for a tax credit, a solar energy device must be installed in Arizona and warranted for at least two years, with remaining device components warranted for at least one year. Qualifying solar energy devices must also comply with consumer protections and ratings set forth by the Arizona Department of Commerce, as well as all other applicable federal, state and local laws.
