Windows Based Password Recovery

Windows user accounts all come with the option to add password protection. If you find that you forget your Windows password, there are some methods to retrieve or reset it.

Non-Administrative Windows Account

• If the account for which you've lost the password is not an administrator's account, then the simple method to reset the password is to log on as the administrator or have the administrator log on and then reset the password in the account settings.

Using a Password Reset Disk

• If you have previously created a password reset disk then you can use that to reset the password on your account by inserting it at the Windows log-in screen. It will then run a password reset wizard to change the password.

Password Recovery Software

• If you cannot get into the administrator account, then you may need to download a third-party password-recovery tool. These will help you to retrieve your password without having to reinstall the operating system.
