The Best Places to Live in the Winter

    • Winter months can be rough in many states. For some, the cold and snow prove to much to bear and they look for alternate places to reside during the winter. Finding the best place to reside during the winter is a very personal choice but there are some areas that have attracted many winter residents. When looking through some of the popular places to migrate, you may find your perfect winter getaway.

    Florida

    • Between the beaches and the year-round golf courses, Florida is an ideal destination for those looking for a winter residence. Many rentals in Florida invite "snowbirds," or people who flock to Florida for the winter, to lease property for the winter months. While the water will most likely be to cold to enjoy year-round, the climate does allow for ocean front beach enjoyment throughout the year in southern Florida. Younger winter migrants may enjoy South Beach with its night life and neon lights while the older crowd will enjoy calmer locals such as West Palm Beach or Boca Raton.

    Texas

    • While not the most popular winter destination, the small coastal towns of south Texas offer ocean front beauty without completely losing the feeling of winter. Although most of south Texas never sees snow, the temperatures do drop to the low to mid 60s during the day. Galveston and South Padre Island offer a small night life for younger generations of winter migrants. The small towns along the coast of Texas between Galveston and Corpus Christi offers a quiet area for families or retired individuals during the winter.

    Arizona

    • Arizona offers winter migrants a place to reside with dry heat almost year round. The desert attracts many northern residents each year. Arizona is an ideal winter destination for migrants seeking year-round golf and swimming. Migrants that are missing the winter activities such as skiing can visit Flagstaff, one of America's highest cities, and get a dose of snow and cold before retiring back to the desert's warmth. Arizona offers a diverse culture that many visitors can enjoy through local restaurants and festivals throughout the winter months.
