Chia Herb Gardens

Fresh herbs add flavor to dishes and look attractive growing on a sunny windowsill. Novice herb gardeners can easily try their hand at cultivation by purchasing a Chia herb garden kit.
  • Kit Contents

    • Each Chia herb garden kit contains four terra cotta pots and water-catching saucers along with four growing sponges. The kit also includes six packets of seeds, including basil, chives, cilantro, dill, sweet marjoram and curly parsley. Markers are provided in the kit, as well as liners for the saucers, recipes using herbs, and a step-by-step guide to planting and growing herbs.

    System Details

    • The Chia sponge is actually a preformed mixture of bark, peat moss and soil formulated to encourage quick germination and growth. After placing each pot-shaped formation into the individual pots, sprinkle seeds on the top and add water. Sprouts are usually visible within 14 days with proper watering and light exposure.

    Options

    • After the plants have reached maturity, cut them back for new growth. For larger plants, transplant the herbs in the ground or into larger pots.
