How to Transfer the Treo 755P Information to a Palm Pre

When you are ready to trade in your Palm Treo 755p for a Palm Pre, you'll want to avoid manually entering your contacts and calendar entries into the new device. Using Palm's Data Transfer Assistant, you can quickly upload your synced computer data from the Treo to the Pre.

  Download and install the latest version of the Palm Desktop software available for the Treo 155p (see Resources).

  Connect your Treo to the computer and press the HotSync button on the cable to sync the phone with the computer. Disconnect your phone from the computer once it finishes.

  Download the Palm Data Transfer Assistant (see Resources).

  Open the downloaded file and accept the terms of use.

  Select the profile with the data you want to transfer.

  Select the information you want to transfer and click "Next."

  Connect your Palm Pre to the computer and select "USB Drive" on the phone, and then click "Next" on the computer.

  Wait for the transfer to complete.

  Right-click your Pre drive that shows in the Windows System Tray and select "Safely Remove Hardware."

  Select "Palm Pre USB Device" and click "Stop."

  Confirm that you want to stop the device and remove the USB cable from the computer.

  Click "Quit" on the Data Transfer Assistant.

  Choose to transfer the added data to an existing account on the phone or add a new account.

  Tap "Finish Import" and then "OK" to start adding the data to the account.
