Many types of code-checking software are available to computer users, each of which has a specific area of coding that it focuses on, price and different features.

Software

• Source Code Line Counter (Free to use, as of October 2010), CodeEnhance VC++ (30-day trial, $249. to buy), Code Checker (Free to use) and Microsoft FxCop (Free to use) are all types of software that are capable of code checking.

Key Features

• Microsoft FxCop gives users the ability to check .NET code assemblies in a number of areas, including globalization, performance and security. Code Checker is designed to check source code of applications. CodeEnhance VC++ provides users with a wide range of features, including the ability to check errors as you work. Source Code Line Counter is used for .cs and .vb file types.

System Requirements

• Source Code Line Counter and Code Checker can be downloaded for all Windows operating systems, while CodeEnhance VC++ is available for Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 7, 7 64-bit, Vista, Vista 64-bit, XP 64-bit and 2008. Microsoft FxCop is available for XP, 2003, Vista and 2008. Microsoft FxCop requires .NET Framework 2.0 to be installed. Code Checker requires .NET Framework 3.5. CodeEnhance VC++ requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2003, 2005 or 2008.
