What Is a HDMI 1.3A Cable?

High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) cables allow high definiton signals to be transfered between periphial components and a high definition (HD) television or monitor.

HDMI Upgrades

• HDMI is the standard digital interface for HD in the consumer electronics market. It has gone through several upgrades since its inception. Previous upgraded versions were HDMI 1.1, 1.2 and 1.2a.

HDMI 1.1 and 1.2

• HDMI 1.1 added support for DVD audio to the cable's transfer ability. Verison 1.2 added support for personal computers and incorporated PCI support as well. The extended 1.2a added a strict testing policy and submission requirements for meeting the HDMI standard.

HDMI 1.3

• HDMI 1.3 is backwards compatible with all previous HDMI ports and incorporates all previous HDMI updates. HDMI 1.3 increases the data transfer rate to 340MHz which is roughly 10.2 gigabytes per second. This allows for deeper color resolution and quicker image refresh rates. It also adds support for "x.v.Color™" which will allow for the rendering of every color precievable by the human eye. Also added for 1.3 are two new audio formats, audio/video self sync capability, and mini connector support for portable video cameras.
