Cute Teacher Gifts

Students often give teachers gifts of appreciation on holidays and at the end of the school term. As a general rule of thumb, you should keep a teacher gift modest. It is not uncommon for school districts to have rules regarding what a teacher can and cannot accept as far as gifts from students are concerned. If you stick with a cute, personal gift, you are not likely to offend anyone.

    Potted Plant or Flower

    • Potted plants and flowers are decorative and cheerful. They are also versatile because a teacher can take them home during break and keep them in her class when school is in session. You can make the gift personal by having your child decorate the pot, or have all the kids in the class sign the pot as a keepsake.

    Tote Bag

    • A teacher can use a nice tote to bring papers and supplies back and forth from home to classroom. You can buy a tote with a cute saying or graphic on it. You can also buy a blank canvas tote from a craft store and have your child paint or personalize it with iron-on transfers.

    Mug

    • Mugs are good teacher gifts because they are useful and inexpensive. To spruce up a teacher mug, buy a mug-making kit and have your child decorate a mug for his teacher. You could also have the group photo from your child's class put on a mug as a gift. You could also include a gift certificate for coffee with a mug.

    Books

    • Teachers often keep books in their classroom so children can read in their down time. Make a gift basket full of new books for your child's classroom. You can order extra books from the school book order form, or get books on sale and save them for a big farewell gift at the end of the year. You could also get one or two classic books and give the teacher a gift card to expand her library.
