Select the best location for your spa. This location must be flat and level. A cement patio or a wooden deck is ideal. If you choose to place your spa in the yard, the ground must be leveled completely with a garden backhoe. You may cover the ground area with a tarp, if you so choose.
- 2
Wire the spa. Most portable spas come with one plug that operates both the water heater and the jets. Be sure your selected location is close enough that the wiring will reach an outlet, but not too close for splashed water to reach the outlet.
- 3
Set the spa in its appropriate location. Call upon a couple of other people to help with the lifting to avoid strain or injury.
- 4
Plug the spa in to the outdoor electrical outlet, and turn on the water heater.
- 5
Place a water hose inside of the spa and turn it on. Allow the spa to fill, as the water will be heated by the water heater at the same time it is filling. It may take up to 24 hours for the desired water temperature to be reached.
- 6
Add the appropriate amount of chlorine to the spa, according to the instructions in the chlorine kit. Test the water every couple of hours to be sure the chlorine is at a safe level.
- 7
Surround your spa area with trees or shrubs for added privacy, if you choose.
