Diesel Specifications for the Nissan Patrol Wagon 3.0 Liter

    • The Nissan Patrol was first introduced to the world in 1951. Since it's inception, the Patrol has been redesigned several times, and in Japan was renamed the Nissan Safari as of 1980. As of 2010, the Patrol has passed through seven generations of production. The Patrol has only become available in North America as of 2010, badged as the Infiniti QX56. Primarily marketed in Australia, the diesel-powered Patrol is available in three trim levels: the DX, ST and Ti.

    Engine

    • The Nissan Patrol is equipped with Nissan's ZD30DDTi diesel engine. This 2,953-cc, straight-four diesel engine features a turbocharger and intercooler. Its equipped with a dual-overhead cam valve train and has four valves per cylinder, for a total of 16 valves. The engine also features a common rail direct-fuel injection system. The cylinder bore measures 96 mm, and has a 102-mm stroke. The compression ratio is 17.9:1. When paired with a manual transmission, the engine is capable of producing 118 horsepower at 3,200 to 3,400 rpm, and generates 280.27 foot-pounds of torque at 2,000 to 2,400 rpm. When paired with an automatic transmission, this engine produces 118 horsepower at 3,600 rpm, and generates 261.09 foot-pounds of torque at 2,000 rpm.

    Transmission & Drivetrain

    • The Nissan Patrol comes standard with a five-speed manual transmission. Optionally, the Patrol can be outfitted with a five-speed automatic transmission with high- and low-gear ratio ranges. Whichever transmission is selected, the Patrol is outfitted with a variable drivetrain. The driver can select between two-wheel and four-wheel drive, and all models come standard with a limited slip differential. For all trim levels excluding the DX, the four-wheel drive engages automatically when the front hubs lock.

    Suspension & Brakes

    • The front wheels of the Nissan Patrol are equipped with independent suspension, with three-link coil springs and a stabilizer bar. The rear wheels also feature independent suspension, with five-link coil springs and a stabilizer bar. All four wheels are outfitted with ventilated disc brakes, although the DX is the only trim level not outfitted with an anti-lock braking system.

    Wheels & Tires

    • The Nissan Patrol has different wheels and tires, depending on the trim level. The DX, when equipped with a manual transmission, comes with 5.5F, 16-inch split rims and is fitted with 7.50R16 8PR tires. When equipped with an automatic transmission, the DX is equipped with 6JJ16 spoked steel wheels with 235/80R16 tires. Optionally, DX buyers can outfit their Patrol with 8JJ16 spoked steel wheels with 265/70R16 tires. All other trim levels come standard with 8JJ17 alloy wheels with 275/65R17 tires.

    Dimensions

    • The Nissan Patrol is 198.8 inches long, 76.3 inches wide and 73 inches high. The wheelbase measures 116.9 inches, and the Patrol clears the ground at 8.2 inches. The front tread on the DX measures 61.2 inches wide, while the rear tread measures 62 inches wide. On the other trim lines, the front tread measures 63.1 inches wide, while the rear tread measures 63.9 inches wide. The Patrol has a 41-foot turning circle.

    Weight

    • When equipped with a manual transmission, the Patrol DX has a curb weight of 5,216 lbs. and 5,191 lbs. with an automatic transmission. The Patrol ST, when equipped with a manual transmission, has a curb weight of 5,412 lbs. and 5,335 lbs. with an automatic transmission. The Patrol Ti, when equipped with a manual transmission, has a curb weight of 5,538 lbs. and 5,460 lbs. with an automatic transmission.

    Capacities

    • The Nissan Patrol DX, when equipped with a manual transmission, has a maximum carrying capacity of 1,530 lbs. and 1,466 lbs. with an automatic transmission. The Patrol ST, with a manual transmission, has a maximum capacity of 1,333 lbs. and 1,322 lbs. with an automatic transmission. The Patrol Ti, when equipped with a manual transmission, has a maximum capacity of 1,208 lbs. and 1,197 lbs. with an automatic transmission. The total weight of all trim lines, including the vehicle itself, all cargo and passengers, cannot exceed 6,746 lbs. on a manual-equipped Patrol or 6,657 lbs. on an automatic-equipped Patrol.

    • All manual transmission equipped Nissan Patrols can tow a braked trailer weighing 7,054 lbs. All automatic transmission equipped Patrols can tow a braked trailer weighing 5,511 lbs. All Patrols are capable of towing an unbraked trailer weighing 1,653 lbs.

    Fuel

    • The Nissan Patrol is equipped with a 25-gallon main fuel tank, as well as a 7-gallon sub tank. The Patrol runs on low-sulfur diesel fuel.
