Easy Flowering Houseplants

  The houseplants that are usually the easiest to take care of are the low-light houseplants. Houseplants that cannot handle low light will become sickly and will need extra efforts to keep alive. With the easier low-light plants, not much needs to be done unless the owner is trying really hard to get them to bloom.

Bromeliads

• Bromeliads are good choices for houseplants because they have the ability to adapt to both light or shade and dry or humid spots, so they get used to almost any environment, according to Plant Power. This houseplant can flower earlier if a plastic bag is placed around it with an apple inside, which releases ethylene gas, inducing the plant to flower.

Cyclamens

• The Cyclamens is another plant that likes cool weather and does not like a lot of sunlight. If placed on a cool north-facing window, this plant will bloom all winter, according to Luv 2 Garden. During the summer, this plant should be allowed to go dormant and should not be watered until it stops its dormancy.

Chinese Evergreen

• The Chinese Evergreen is a very common houseplant. The leaves of this plant are long and very narrow, according to Perry's Perennials. The leaves have various streaks of colors which homeowners often find to be very attractive. The colors found in the leaves are mostly green and white.

Philodendrons

• Philodendrons are another option for gardeners looking for an easy choice. These plants usually like low light, though they can do well in medium light, according to Perry's Perennials. These plants produce stalks that hang from the basket or pot that they're placed in.

Flamingo Flower

• The flamingo flower is a relatively easy plant to take care of if the homeowner would like an easy flowering plant. But to get the plant to bloom very well, the flamingo flower needs a lot of light, according to Gardening Club. New cultivars of the flamingo flower have curly spadix. This plant produces heart-shaped spathes.

Azaleas

• Azaleas are common houseplants for homes that are somewhat cold, since they prefer cool temperatures at night. The plant likes indirect light. It does not like to be soaked with water but would instead rather be moist, according to Luv 2 Garden. These plants flower if they are placed in a cool room for one to two months and are watered less.
