Fast Growing Daylilies

Fast growing daylilies offer beauty and color to gardens. Daylilies come in many different types and colors. Most stores and nurseries carry only hybrids.
  • Hybrid Types

    • With numerous hybrids to choose from, daylilies have something for almost everyone.

Pardon Me daylilies grow 2-foot tall stems with bright red blooms. This dwarf hybrid grows vigorously and is very dependable.

Happy Returns daylilies will grow only 1 1/2 feet tall and produce bright yellow flowers.

The Sherwood Gladiator will grow up to 5 feet tall and have dramatic yellow blooms up to 7 inches wide.

    Growing Conditions

    • Drought tolerant, daylilies will adapt to many different soil types. According to the University of Florida, they grow best in full to partial sun. Some daylilies can survive mild winters when protected with mulch. Being salt tolerant, daylilies can also grow on the seashore.

    Uses in Gardens

    • Daylilies work nicely as ground covers. Ground cover is used to fill in bare spots of the garden. Daylilies planted in open areas and on slopes or banks grow well. Smaller daylilies can also be planted in containers to decorate walkways or a porch.
