Ford Turbo Thunderbird Information

Ford offered its 10th-generation Thunderbird with a supercharger option. The American automaker sold this model, called the SuperCoupe, between the 1989 and 1995 model years.
  • Engine

    • The Thunderbird SuperCoupe derives its power from a supercharged 3.8-liter V-6 engine with a 3.81-inch bore and a 3.39-inch stroke. The 1989 to 1993 models have a compression ratio of 8.2 to 1, while the 1994 and 1995 models have a compression ratio of 8.5 to 1.

    Engine Ouput

    • The 1989 to 1993 model years of the Thunderbird offer a maximum output of 210 horsepower and 315 foot-lbs. of torque, while the higher-compression engine in the 1994 and 1995 models generates 230 horsepower and 330 foot-lbs. of torque.

    Fuel Economy

    • The lower-compression V-6 engine in the 1989 to 1993 Thunderbird SuperCoupe model yields 18 miles per gallon (mpg) city and between 24 and 26 mpg highway, while the higher compression V-6 engine in the later models has a rating of 17 mpg city and between 23 and 24 mpg highway.
