Lighting does much to set the mood in a room. As such, places like the game room call for lighting that's not necessarily traditional, but fun. These lighting schemes put the finishing touches on many funky decorating styles.

Decorating Themes

• Fun lighting ideas should take their cues from a person's decorating themes. For example, if a homeowner chooses to decorate in 60s retro, fun lighting choices might include a lava lamp or a purple light bulb stuck into a lamp with a cool 60s shade.

Considerations

• Some fun lighting schemes may not provide adequate lighting for some homeowners' needs. Using the 60s example, the lava lamp looks cool, but doesn't provide much light. Additionally, lighting may be necessary to read or do work.

• Lighting doesn't have to come from traditional lamps. Depending upon how brave a homeowner is, lighting choices can also come from items like a mirrored disco ball. These lighting choices reflect the light in the room and add a touch of whimsy.
