Place the track onto the roadbed that you're using between the track and the foam. Cork roadbed provides a stable support surface for the track, reducing movement of the track on the board by reducing vibration caused by train operations. Center the track on the roadbed pieces and then cut the roadbed to fit the track using a utility knife. Roadbed should extend beyond the edges of the track about ¼-inch.

Place the cut roadbed onto the foam where you intend to mount the track. Mark the location of the roadbed with a pencil, following along the outside edges of the roadbed. Remove the bed from the foam.

Glue the roadbed to the foam board using white glue. Place a bead of glue along the edges of the roadbed marks and then press the bed firmly onto the foam.

Place the track so that it's centered on the attached roadbed. Connect the tracks at the joints. Lightly secure the track into place using stickpins through the small holes in the track ties going through the track, roadbed and into the foam.

Place white glue beneath the track ties, avoiding the stickpins. Press the stickpins fully into the track, holding the track firmly into place. Allow the glue to dry overnight. As it dries, it will turn from a white milky color to clear. Remove the stickpins after the glue dries to complete the connection.

How to Glue N-Gauge Track to Foam
N-Gauge model railroading is small-scale modeling that allows users to pack a large layout into a small space. Because of the small scale, N-gauge does not require the often extensive bench work common with larger scaled trains to support the weight of the layout, instead many users of the scale opt for a simple plywood board beneath foam sheeting as a track base. The lightweight of the models allows secure attachment of the track to the foam using nothing more than white craft glue. The process is a quick one, and with the glue drying clearly, the attachment is an unobtrusive one that does not detract from the detail of the models at all.
