Gifts for Grandma & Grandpa

Nothing says I'm thinking about you better than something handmade. No matter their age, grandparents will love something you've made yourself, especially if you tailor it to their interests, likes or needs. For example, if your grandmother lives in a northern climate, crochet a warm afghan or scarf she can use around the house or proudly wear out shopping with her friends. Create a box for Grandpa to put all his fishing lures in or a pouch for his golf balls. Bake a batch of his favorite cookies and put in a tin just for him. Anything you make will be appreciated by them and proudly displayed to all their friends.

    Time Matters

    • The most precious gift you can give your grandmother or grandfather is your time. Take the chance to spend some quality time with them. Look over the old photo albums, learn how to cook Grandma's famous dishes directly from the source, take Grandpa to the ball game. You will not only be making new memories for them to enjoy, but great memories for you to look back on when they are gone.

    Memories

    • The one thing you'll never get back once grandparents are gone is the history they have seen and the memories they have about their parents and grandparents. Give your grandparents a memory album or journal that they can use to record all these wonderful memories. Make sure it's big enough to include photos and stories along with any mementos they might want to include. Include a list of questions you might have for them to answer and get them started. Once completed, they can give it back to you, or you can have it copied for distribution to the entire family.
