How Do I Remove the Door Panel on a Volkswagen Passat?

To remove your Volkswagen Passat's door panel, you'll need a standard Phillips head screwdriver and a small flat head screwdriver for removing screws and prying up the trim and panel. Be careful not to damage the panel when removing it.
  • Remove the Grips and Trim

    • If you are removing the driver's door panel, insert the small, flat head screwdriver into the door handle grip and the window switch cover to remove them. Separate the electrical connectors under the switch cover. For any passenger door, pry off the door handle trim cover with the flat head screwdriver.

    Remove the Retaining Screws

    • On the driver's door, unscrew the panel retaining screws that were covered by the switch cover with a Phillips head screwdriver. On any passenger door, remove the screws on the door handle with the screwdriver. Remove the retaining screws at the bottom of the door panel on either door.

    Remove the Door Panel

    • On either door, pry along the sides of the panel to disengage the clips. Grip the panel and firmly pull up to separate it from the door. Disconnect any cables or electrical connectors attached to the panel.
