Units like the CLJ condenser help provide relief from the heat. Sun image by KPICKS from Fotolia.com
Goodman Manufacturing Company produces climate control components, such as air conditioning systems, heat pump systems, gas furnaces, air purifiers and packaged air conditioners. Among its products are the CLJ series of condensing units, components of residential and commercial air conditioning systems. Condensing units like the CLJ serve as an integral part of air conditioning systems as these outdoor units use a compressor and a condensing coil to create cool air.
Technical Specifications
-
As the CLJ series spans the entry-level CLJ18-1 all the way to the top-of-the-line CLJ64-1, other technical specifications vary. Various units have circuit ampacities -- the measurement of how much current their wires can safely carry -- ranging from 11.8 to 37.6 amps. The unit's condenser fans operate between 1.3 and 1.6 full load amperes. The British Thermal Unit (BTU) per hour output of the CLJ series ranges from 26,400 to 64,000 units. More units equal more cooling power. The quietest condensers operate at 73 decibels while the loudest reach up to 80 decibels. All condensing unit models in Goodman's CLJ series operate at 208/230 volts, with a maximum volt operation of 253 volts and a minimum volt operation of 197 volts.
Exterior Specifications
-
Every condensing unit in the CLJ line features a cabinet made of heavy-gauge, zinc-clad galvanized steel. A UV-resistant polyester powder paint coats the exterior of the unit. CLJ units are cubical in shape, featuring ventilated sides, a fan at the top and liquid and suction connection valves at the bottom. Pan rails at the bottom of the CLJ elevate it above outdoor mounting slabs. Exterior sizes vary depending on the specific CLJ model. Small chassis units measure 25 to 30 inches tall and 23 inches wide while medium chassis units measure between 25 and 40 inches tall and 29 inches wide. Large CLJ condensers span 40 inches tall and 35 inches wide. Apart from size, the exterior specifications of all the CLJ models are identical.
Features
-
Goodman's CLJ condensing units all have hermetically sealed compressors with internal high-pressure relief capabilities. These units feature a completely enclosed condenser motor that is permanently lubricated. The coil, which is made of a copper tube with an aluminum finish, sports a louvered guard, protecting it from external damage. For drying, these units rely on a factory-installed liquid line filter drier. The CLJ's brass suction and liquid shutoff valves feature sweat connections, meaning they do not have threads or fittings.
