Graduation Party Favor Ideas

Whether from high school or college, a celebration of achievement is in order for the graduate in your life. Give small favors to your guests to thank them for celebrating with you during this important time. Choose favors that reflect a general theme of graduation but add extra punch with school colors, personalized mementos or festive themes.

Photo Favors

• Help everyone remember this special time in your graduate's life with photograph favors. Choose small graduation-themed frames or frames with the graduation year on them from a party supply store and place a graduation photo in each one.

  Purchase or make candy bar wrappers with your graduate's photo and graduation year for miniature candy bars or full-size chocolate bars. Make your own by removing the paper wrapper from a candy bar and smoothing it flat. Measure the front of the candy bar and the size of the full wrapper. Create a design using photo-editing software and size it so the image is the same size as the front of the bar. Print and cut down to the wrapper size. Wrap and around the bar and glue or tape in place.

Diploma Favors

• Decorate small favor tins, boxes or bags with miniature diplomas. Roll strips of white paper into rolls to make the diplomas. Tie ribbons in the school colors around each roll in a bow to hold shut. Tie a small graduation year charm to each bow to complete the diploma. Use hot glue to attach the diploma to the top of boxes or the front of bags.

  Fill the boxes with small candies or chocolates. For a homemade touch, make sugar cookie dough and cut out graduation caps with a cookie cutter. Frost in black icing after baking, then wrap each cookie individually in clear cellophane before boxing or bagging.

Theme Favors

• If your graduation party has a specific theme, the favors should reflect that. Add tags or labels to the theme appropriate favors with the graduate's name and graduation year. For example, add a label to the front of bubbles for a garden party or attach a tag to sunglasses for a beach party.

  Choose favors that reflect the graduate's interests or majors. For a sports enthusiast, give miniature footballs, baseballs or other sports balls. Order them stamped with the graduation year from a party supplier. Small notebooks for purses or pockets are easy to personalize with a picture of the graduate or the year---use them for literature or language majors. Masquerade masks for drama majors, seed packets for botany majors or pocket calculators for those in mathematics are others examples of favors that can be personalized with a graduation year tag or label.
