How to Safely Install Your Pocket Lighting

Turn off power to the light fixture by locating the appropriate breaker in the breaker box and switching it off. Use a non-contact voltage tester to determine if wires are alive with voltage.

Remove the old fixture by removing screws holding the fixture to the ceiling. Remove the light bulbs. Gently pull down the fixture to expose its black, white and green (grounding) wires.

Unscrew wire nuts from the ends of each wire and disconnect wires from the old fixture from the ceiling wires.

Reconnect the fixture by attaching black wires from the new light fixture to the black supply wires in the ceiling receptacle. Do the same with the red and green wires. Screw on wire nuts to the end of each of the black, red and green wires, then tighten.

Check that there are no bare spots on wires. Gently tuck wires back into the ceiling box and attach the new fixture to the ceiling with screws provided. Screw in light bulbs, turn the breaker switch, then turn the light switch on.
