How to Auto Hide the Task Bar with Group Policy

Group Policy allows you to control users and computers in your network by enforcing settings in Windows based upon a user's account group. Although Microsoft does not provide a way to enforce a hidden task bar solely through group policy, you can perform this by modifying the system to enable the auto hide functionality and then force a policy that does not allow the user to change his task bar settings.

  Open the "Start" menu and type "Auto-hide the Taskbar" without quotes. Press "Enter."

  Place a check mark in "Auto-hide the taskbar" and then click "OK."

  Open the "Start" menu and type "gpedit.msc" without quotes. Press "Enter."

  Click "User Configuration" > "Administrative Templates" > "Start Menu and Task Bar" on the left panel.

  Right click "Prevent Changes to Taskbar and Start Menu Settings" and click "Edit."

  Click "Enabled" and then click "Apply." You have now set a policy forbidding users from modifying your task bar setting.
