Stand the box spring on one of its long sides or upside down. This will allow you access to the bottom.

    • 2

Remove the staples on the underside of the box spring. Remove all the staples from the long sides of the box spring, leaving the staples on the short sides. Use a flat-head screwdriver or pliers to remove the staples.

    • 3

Cut the fabric, which should no longer be attached to the long sides of the box spring, at the exact middle of the long sides of the box spring. Use scissors to cut the fabric from one long side all the way to the other. Once you have cut the fabric, tuck it into the springs to keep it out of the way for the next step.

Saw through the middle of the wooden frame of both long sides of the box spring. You can use a power saw or a hand saw. Do not saw through the metal part. You will now be able to bend the box spring in half.

    • 5

Use a door frame to fold the box spring in half. Prop the soft side of the box spring against the corner of the door frame. Have another person push one side of the box spring while you push the other, almost as if you were trying to shut a book.

Remove the box spring from the door frame and fold one side on top of the other, like a book. Have the other person hold the box spring shut while you tie a rope around it to keep it closed for transport.
