How to Change the Ink Cartridge on a Cannon MX310

The Canon Pixma MX310 is a multifunction printer -- it can print, scan, copy and fax. Since the amount of ink stored in an ink cartridge is finite, it will eventually become necessary to replace the ink cartridges. This is a process that can occur frequently, so the ink cartridges are designed to be accessible and interchangeable. Once the old cartridge has been replaced, the printer will detect the new one and resume normal operation.

  Turn on the printer by pressing the power button on the printer cover.

  Lift open the top part of the printer, then lower the support stand on the bottom-right side of the cover to prevent the printer cover from closing. Wait until the print cartridges have finished sliding to the left side of the printer.

  Push down on the empty ink cartridge until it comes loose from its holder, then remove the cartridge from the printer.

  Remove the new ink cartridge from its packaging, then remove the protective orange tape that is affixed to the ink cartridge.

  Insert the new ink cartridge into the vacant slot in the printer, then push up until the cartridge clicks into place.

  Lift the printer cover until the support stand returns to its storage position, then close the printer cover and wait while the printer aligns the new cartridge.
