How to Check Bust Size

An incorrect bra size can cause discomfort in the shoulders and breasts, not to mention the negative effect it may have on posture. Most women do not wear the proper bra size and may not even be aware of it. Every bra a female owns should be comfortable and provide plenty of support. In order to get the most out of a bra, you must first measure your bust size. Bust sizes can seem a bit confusing at first, but it only takes two measurements to figure out what you need.

Put on your best fitting bra. Even if the bra isn't the correct size, it should still allow you to get accurate measurements.

Measure the area around your chest just below your armpits and above your breasts to get the band measurement. Pull the tape measure so it's snug, but not so tight that it's uncomfortable. Write the measurement down on a piece of paper. If the measurement is an odd number, then you must round up to the nearest even number.

Wrap the tape measure around the largest part of your bosom. Again, pull the tape measure just tight enough that it's snug. Write this measurement down on a piece of paper.

Subtract the band measurement from the second measurement to determine the cup size. Every inch of difference is equal to a cup size. For example, if the second measurement is 38 and the band measurement is 36, you subtract 36 from 38 to get 2. Since there is a 2 inch difference, the cup size is a B.
