Plug one end of your RJ-45 patch cord into the jack provided by MCI Verizon.
- 2
Route the cable to the connection point avoiding foot traffic, heaters or water. The shorter the run the better.
- 3
Plug the other end of the patch cord into your T1 equipment. This could be a router or a computer, depending on your system layout.

How to Connect to an MCI T1 Line
In 2006, MCI merged with Verizon as part of the wave of consolidation in the telecommunications industry. Sometimes referred to as MCI-Verizon, the company can now provide a T1 line for an Internet connection to a computer, or between two or more computers for a wide area network (WAN). A T1 line enters your facility on four wires, two for a "transmit" signal and two for "receive." MCI Verizon installs a jack -- usually an RJ-45 -- to connect your computer or network to the T1 line as part of the installation contract.
