How to convert lbs to kilos

In 1965, the UK adopted a metric measurement system, gradually replacing its existing range of imperial measures such as pints, feet and pounds with units such as litres, metres and kilos. The idea was to bring the UK into line with other trading partners around the world. Today, it is illegal for UK traders to use only imperial measurements, though many still display them alongside metric units. The pound---shortened to lb from the Latin "libra pondo", meaning pound weight---is an imperial unit of weight. Its metric equivalent is the kilogram, shortened to kilo or kg. A kilo is 2.205 pounds.
