How to Delete a Program on a DVD Forever

DVD can stand for digital video disc or digital versatile disc, because DVDs that used to only be used for holding high quality videos now also hold data for computers as well. Distinguishing between the two types of DVDs can sometimes be hard to express, especially since you can put video files on a computer data DVD. To delete a program on a video type of DVD is not just a matter of removing it; you must remove everything on the entire DVD.

  Put the DVD in the computer drive. If you have burned a video DVD to a rewritable disk you can erase the video.

  Open Windows Explorer and right-click on the DVD drive. Choose "Erase this disk" and click "Next" to confirm. Burn something else on this DVD. Copy additional files and select "Burn" so that you completely overwrite the files.

  Destroy the DVD. If it is not a rewritable DVD you can only be sure it is gone by destroying the disc. Breaking the disc physically can result in sharp and dangerous pieces, so it might be better to take a scouring pad and scratch the DVD rather than trying to break it in half or into pieces.
