How to Fix a Single Horizontal Line on an Acer Monitor

If your Acer laptop screen is plagued by a single horizontal line running across the screen, it is most likely the result of a connection problem. That means if you want to fix it you are going to have to open the display assembly and take a look at the actual LCD screen. You can pay a lot of money to have a tech do it for you, but you can actually do the job yourself in a short period of time.
    • 1

Power off your Acer laptop. Unplug the power cable and disconnect the battery pack from the bottom of the computer.

    • 2

Use the tip of your screwdriver to pop each of the rubber caps off the four screws located on the corners of the plastic frame around the LCD screen.

    • 3

Remove the screws from the plastic frame.

    • 4

Pry the frame off the Acer screen at the sides and corners. The green inverter board will now be visible mounted below the screen.

    • 5

Remove all four screws along the bottom of the screen and set them aside.

    • 6

Tilt the screen itself forward to see the thick screen cable connected to the back of it.

    • 7

Remove any tape covering the screen cable and inspect it to make sure it is plugged securely into the port at the back of the screen. If it isn't, simply unplug it and plug it back in, making sure it is secure in the port. Reverse the steps for reassembly.
