How to Forcefully Uninstall a Program

If a program is causing your computer to run slow or taking up unnecessary space, you have the option to uninstall or remove the program. You can forcefully uninstall a program located on your Windows 7 or Windows XP computer. However, after you uninstall the program, it is no longer available on your computer. Therefore, choose carefully before removing a program.

  Click "Start" then "Control Panel."

  Select "Programs" in Windows 7 by double clicking, followed by "Programs and Features." For Windows XP, locate "Add or Remove Programs" and double-click it.

  Sort the list of programs that appear by clicking on the drop-down menu in the top right corner. Select "Name," "Size," "Frequency of Use" or "Date of Last Use."

  Select the program you are uninstalling. Click "Remove," then click "Yes" and verify you want to uninstall the program if the prompt appears.

  Follow the on-screen instructions. Generally, you have to restart your computer for the change to be effective.
