Obtain a "Change of Address" form from your local post office.

Complete the form by entering your name, current address, new address and whether the forward is for an individual, family or business.

Enter the date you wish to have the mail forward start.

Return the form to the post office or give it to your mail carrier. You will receive a "Mail Forwarding" confirmation letter from the Postal Service.
Online

Go to the U.S. Postal Service website and click on "All Products and Services."

Click "Change Your Address" under the heading "What Would You Like To Do?"

Click "I Understand and Acknowledge the Statement Above" to proceed.

Enter whether the address change is permanent or temporary and enter the date you want the mail forwarding to take effect. Click "Continue."

Select whether the mail forwarding is for an individual, family or business. Click "Continue" to proceed.

Enter your name, old address, new address and email address into the corresponding fields. Click "Continue."

Select the type of credit card you will use. This card will be charged $1 to verify your identity.

Enter the card number and the three-digit security code, which is located on the back of your credit card. Enter the card's expiration date.

Enter your phone number and the correct billing address.

Review your information and select the box next to the verification statement.

Click "Submit" to complete your change of address request. You can select "Print Your Request" if you wish to print a copy of the form for your records.

Check your email for a verification email from the Postal Service. You will receive a confirmation kit at your new address in a couple of weeks.
