How to Get Lots of Rings on Sonic Advance

In "Sonic Advance" for the Game Boy Advance, as with other games in the series, Sonic collects scores of rings as he plays through a level. When an enemy hits him, he loses these rings and must grab them again. An easier way to collect and keep lots of rings is to play the special stage and the mini-games in the Chao Garden. You can use rings to buy useful items in the store.
  • Special Stage Rings

    • 1

Run through the level collecting rings. Avoid the silver obstacles, as you lose 10 rings when you strike them.

    • 2

Advance through the level by collecting enough rings to make it through each checkpoint.

    • 3

Press the "B" button when Sonic passes through a large orange circle. This will make him do a trick move and earn 15 extra rings.

    Chao Garden Rings

    • 1

Visit the Chao Garden and enter one of the two mini-games you can play here.

    • 2

Push the control pad left or right to move triangles around with the symbols rock, paper and scissors on them. Press the "A" button to make one fly up and smash one of the squares rotating around the top of the screen featuring similar symbols. If you match a triangle symbol with a square symbol that it trumps you earn a ring. The squares move faster with each successful try.

    • 3

Match cards with the same Chao characters on them to earn rings in the matching game. The quantity of rings you earn with each match is based on the color on the back of the card: Blue is worth one ring, pink three rings and red five rings. Guess incorrectly three times and you will have to start over.
