How to Hook a VCR to a Comcast Box

When a VCR is connected to your Comcast cable box, you can record any program that is currently playing on the television, and can play back any compatible videotape, whether a commercial release or a tape you recorded. A connected VCR becomes the intermediary between the cable box and TV; cable signals will be sent to the TV through the VCR rather than directly from the Comcast cable box to the TV.

Power off the TV, cable box and VCR. Unplug the devices, if necessary to power them off.

Connect one coaxial cable to the cable outlet on the wall. Connect the other end of this same coaxial cable to the "Cable In" port on the rear of the Comcast cable box.

Connect the second coaxial cable to the "To TV/VCR" output port on the rear of the Comcast cable box. Connect the other end of this coaxial cable to the coaxial input port on the rear of the VCR.

Connect the third coaxial cable to the coaxial output port on the rear of the VCR. Connect the other end of this same cable to the "RF/Antenna In" coaxial jack on the rear of the TV.
