How to Install an Altec Lansing Microphone AHS 502 Headset

The Altec Lansing AHS 502 is a microphone headset for your computer. You can use this headset to listen to music, make voice recordings or voice chat over the Internet. It also has a volume control and mute function built into the headset cord. Your computer must have a sound card with external sound jacks for both microphones and speakers in order to install this headset.

      Locate the sound card on the back of your computer's tower. This will usually have a number of color-coded sound jacks. Sometimes a computer may offer sound card jacks on the front panel of the tower as well.

      Plug the green speaker plug of your Altec Lansing headset into the speaker input jack on the sound card. This jack will often be bright green in color to help you determine the input type.

      Plug the pink headphone plug of the Altec Lansing headset into the microphone input jack on the sound card. This may be pink in color to help you to determine the type of input.

      Turn up the volume control on the Altec Lansing headset cord. You should now be able to hear sound through your headset speakers.

      Turn on the microphone from the control on the Altec Lansing headset cord if you will be using your microphone. The control allows you to switch between microphone mute and microphone on. You will now be able to talk into the microphone for voice recordings or voice chat.
