How to Make Soap Sashes

You can connect homemade soap to a ribbon or rope to keep handy in the shower, laundry room or kitchen. Soap sashes can be made in large batches so they can also be used as gifts or hospitality offerings.

  To make your soap, melt the glycerin soap base and the shea butter separately. Mix the materials together while they are still in liquid form, and add 3 to 5 drops of your essential oil of choice.

  Add mixture to container molds. To add your ribbon or rope to the soap, place it in the molds with the mixture so it sets inside the soap. The soap will set once the mixture cools, so be sure to place the ribbon or rope within the mixture while it is still hot.

  Once the soap is set and the ribbon or rope is secured within the soap, remove the soap blocks from the molds and cut as desired. You can leave long blocks connected to the rope or ribbon, or use your knife to cut off pieces so that smaller blocks of soap run the length of the sash. Hang the sash in the shower or give as a gift.
