How to Only Capture Audio From an MPEG

MPEG refers to a set of digital video compression standards that were developed by the Motion Pictures Experts Group. While digital videos that are published with the MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 compression standards are distributed as MPG files, digital videos that are encoded with the MPEG-4 compression standard are circulated as MP4 files. Users can capture the audio tracks from an MPEG video with the aid of a file conversion program like MPEG Streamclip, iWisoft Free Video Converter or SUPER. All of these utilities are free to download and use.

MPEG Streamclip

  Launch MPEG Streamclip. Go to "File" and select "Open Files..." Search for the MPEG video in the file selection window. Select the item and click "Open" to load the file into the application.

  Go to "File" and select "Export Audio..." An audio exporter screen will load. Program the digital audio output file by making selections in the "Format," "Channels," "Sample Rate" and "Bit Rate" pull-down menus. Click "OK." A file saving dialog window will open.

  Target a saving destination for the digital audio output file and name it accordingly. Click the "Save" button to encode the media. When the status bar window disappears, the digital audio output file will be ready for use.

iWisoft Free Video Converter

  Launch iWisoft Free Video Converter. Click the "Add" icon and search for the MPEG video in the file selection window. Select the item and click "Open" to load the file into the application.

  Open the "Profile" drop-down menu. Go to "Common Audio" and select your preferred output format.

  Click the "Start" button to encode the media. The application will display the storage location for the digital audio output file when it is ready for use.

  Launch SUPER. Open the "Select an Output Container" pull-down menu and choose a preferred output format from the digital audio section.

  Drag and drop the MPEG video into the "DROP A VALID MULTIMEDIA FILE HERE" section. The file will be imported into the application.

  Click the "Encode (Active Files)" button to encode the media. The application will chime once the digital audio output file is ready for use. The media will be exported to the same location as the MPEG video.
