How to Place an Ad on Kijiji

The Kijiji website allows you to view and post local classified ads in communities across Canada. It lets you advertise not only household goods, but also vehicles, homes, rental properties, services, jobs, activities and garage sales. Unlike some Web-based classified sites, Kijiji gives you the ability to post any kind of advertisement at no charge. Once you understand the proper steps, placing your own ad on the site requires just a few clicks.

  Open a Web browser and navigate to the Kijiji website (see "Resources"). If you have not used the site before on your current computer, select the province and city where you want to place your ad, then click "Go."

  Click the "Post a classified ad" link near the top-left corner of the window.

  Click the link that corresponds with the category where you want your ad to appear. For example, "Books," "Tickets" or "Apartments for rent."

  Select "I am offering" within the "Ad Type" section.

  Select the "$" option and enter your preferred price in the adjacent field within the "Price" section. You can also select the "Free," "Please contact" or "Swap/trade" option if you do not want to specify an exact price.

  Enter your preferred ad title in the corresponding field.

  Enter the content of your ad in the "Description" field. If you want to add a link to your website, enter the address in the adjacent "Website URL" field. To include an image, click the "Browse" button next to the adjacent "Images" field.

  Enter your email address in the "Email" field.

  Enter either your complete street address, or only your postal code, in the "Map Address" field.

  Click the "Post Your Ad" button. A confirmation email will be sent to the address you provided and your ad will be posted to the site, generally within an hour and nearly always within 24 hours.
