Spray the rims on your 1991 Ford Mustang with a water hose. Put 2 tsp. of dish detergent in your bucket and fill it with water. Soak your towels in the soap and water, and then use them to clean each rim. Remove all dirt, grime, and grease from the rims. Let the rims completely dry before continuing.

Move your car out of direct sunlight to help keep the polish from drying too fast. Put a small dab of aluminum wheel polish on a soft polishing cloth and apply to the rim in a deliberate circular motion. Apply the polish as needed to cover the entire rim; keep rubbing in a circular motion until your cover the rim.

Buff off the polish with a clean soft-polishing cloth, using the same circular motion. Switch to a different area of the towel once the polish builds up. Once you completely buff of the polish, move onto the next rim and begin the polishing procedures again.

How to Polish Rims on a 1991 Ford Mustang
The 1991 Ford Mustang shipped from the factory with 16-inch, cast-aluminum, five-spoke "pony" wheels. Polish these rims on a regular basis to keep them shining. This will require you to follow some specific procedures meant specifically for polishing aluminum rims. Using polishes or cleaners meant for other types of rims, such as chrome, will damage the aluminum and leave the rims looking tarnished.
