How to Program the Keyless Entry on a 1993 Taurus

Some versions of the 1993 Ford Taurus come equipped with the ability to use the keyless entry feature, but you will have to program the remote first, before you can use it. You will need to jump the programming connector pins in order to have your car enter programming mode, then send a signal from the remote by pressing the right sequence of buttons. If you haven't ever programmed a Taurus remote before, don't worry. By following the correct process, you can use the keyless entry feature in minutes.

Sit inside your vehicle on the driver's side, then turn your car key forward to the "Run/ACC" position. Do not start your vehicle, but turn your key to the last position before the engine is ignited.

    • 2

Jump the two programming connector pins, which are located in the LR quarter panel area. This panel is located underneath the steering wheel column. If you see that the connection has already been made or you have to unplug one, you are attempting to connect the wrong pins. The car doors will cycle, indicating that programming has been initiated.

Press any of the buttons on the remote that you are programming. This will cause the car doors to cycle, meaning that your car is receiving the signal from the remote. Repeat this step for additional remotes that you would like to program at this time as well.

    • 4

Turn the car key backwards to the "Off" position. This will tell your Taurus to exit its state of programming.

    • 5

Disconnect the programming connector pins to complete the process. Your remote will be functional once you exit your vehicle.
