How to Register Motorcycle Salvage Titles

A salvage title is assigned to a vehicle, motorcycles included, after a set amount of damage has been declared on it after accidents or rebuilds. Each state has a different method of recognizing the definition of salvage, and most states have a method of registering these motorcycles. When registering the motorcycle as a salvage, you will most likely need to go to the office of the DMV in your state, and provide a fee to get the title.

Go to your local branch of the Department of Motor Vehicles or state registration agency (see Resource).

    • 2

Request the salvage registration title form, and tell the clerk you need it for a motorcycle. For example, in the State of California you would receive Form Reg343. Get the appropriate forms for your state and locale.

Fill the form out completely and honestly, and present it to the desk clerk along with any bills of sale, insurance documents and proof of ownership. Pay the fee, and receive your motorcycle salvage title.
