How to Remove an Elite Toolbar

Elitebar is a Web browser toolbar add-on. Although it looks like an aid to online searches Elitebar is actually spyware -- malicious software that redirects your searches to advertising websites, generates ad pop-ups, slows down your browser and steals private information such as online banking logon information. In addition, Elitebar can download and install adware programs without your knowledge. Remove this dangerous spyware immediately upon detection.

  Press the "Ctrl," "Shift" and "Esc" keys at the same time to start the Task Manager.

  Close the Task Manager.

Remove Registry Entries

  Click the "Start" menu, type "regedit" in the "Start Search" box and press "Enter" to start the Registry Editor.

  Click the "Edit" menu option in the Registry Editor's window, click "Find," type "DBF33E89-1784-42AC-ADE4-A428F56550A3" in the search field and press "Enter." Right-click the search result(s) and select "Delete."

  Close the Registry Editor.

Unregister DLLs

  Go to the "Start" menu, type "cmd" in the "Start Search" box and press "Enter" to start the command line window.

  Type "regsvr32 /u elitetoolbar.dll" in the command line window and press "Enter" to unregister the DLL file.

  Repeat Step 2 for "elitesidebar[number].dll," "xud_[number].dll," "nt_hide_[number].dll," "81635062.dll," "nt_hide79.dll," "elitetoolbarversion59.dll," "elitesidebar08.dll," "1884629.dll," "xud_63.dll," "elitebar.dll," "nt_hide76.dll," "EliteToolBar version 60.dll" and "EliteBar version 40.dll."

  Type "exit" and press "Enter" to close the command line window.

Find and Delete Files

  Go to the "Start" menu, type "c4t.exe" in the "Start Search" box and press "Enter." Delete all search results.
