How to Remove the Fan From My 2002 GMC Sierra 2500

Removing the fan from your 2002 GMC Sierra is straightforward. Four bolts secure the fan to the engine. The bolts themselves are relatively easy to locate and remove. This makes it easier to take the fan out if the motor burns up or for other repairs that require removing the fan. To remove the fan, you need only basic hand tools found in most garages.

  Unplug the fan harness connector from the back of the fan motor. The harness has a tab in the center. Push in on the tab and pull out on the harness.

  Remove the four bolts that secure the fan assembly to the fan brace using a socket and ratchet. There is one in each corner of the fan assembly.

  Lift the fan assembly out of the engine bay.
