If you drive a 1992 Mustang, there may come a time when you want or need to replace the rear seat. Whether you need temporary cargo space or want to make your car lighter or faster, you can remove the rear seat in just a few simple steps. If you are removing the rear seats permanently, there are aftermarket kits you can purchase to make the back of your Mustang more attractive.

Reach under the back seat to locate a white button. It is located about one foot in from the side of the Mustang. Press the button. The seat will release.

Pull the seat out. If it seems stuck, run a flathead screwdriver across the bottom edge to loosen any fabric that may be stuck and then wiggle the seat back and forth.

Pull down the back of the seats. Locate three bolts that hold the headrests. Remove the bolts and pull out both headrests.

Locate two 10 mm bolts that hold the back of the seat in place. Remove the bolts. Two more bolts are located at the bottom corners of the back of the seat. Unbolt these as well. Pull out the seat.
