How to Remove Sway Bar Links in a Jeep Wrangler

The sway bars links on your Jeep Wrangler may be removed during off-road use. The sway bar links attach to the sway bar. The sway bar eliminates body roll when going around corners. By removing the sway bar links, you will increase the articulation of your suspension. The tires will stay on the ground during extreme off-roading. If you are an avid off-road enthusiast, you may want to purchase an aftermarket sway bar quick disconnect for your Jeep Wrangler.

      Locate the sway bar in the front of your Jeep Wrangler. The sway bar is mounted parallel with the axle. The sway bar is mounted to the front of the frame at each side. The links attach to the sway bar and the axle on each side.

      Remove the bolts that secure the lower section of the sway bar links to the axle with a ratchet and socket.

      Remove the nuts that secure the upper section of the sway bar link with a ratchet and socket.

      Tie the sway bar up with wire ties on each side. This will prevent the sway bar from moving.
