How to Repair Missing Files in Works 4.5

Microsoft Works 4.5 is a version of the program that was designed for use on computers with Windows 95 or 98, but will work with Windows XP. When a file or component is missing, errors can occur, including when you are using the thesaurus or the calendar features of the program. To fix or repair a missing file, use the installation CD.
  • Reinstall the Software

      Insert the installation disc into the CD/DVD drive for the computer.

      Click the "Start" button and select "My Computer." Double-click the icon for the CD/DVD drive.

      Double-click the "Setup.exe" file to run the Installation Wizard.

      Accept the license agreement and click the "Next" button to continue.

      Follow the instructions on the screen to install the software. Click "Finish" to complete the installation.

      Double-click the icon for "Microsoft Works" to verify that the program opens, and you can use all the features.

    Install Missing Component

      Insert the installation disc into the CD/DVD drive.

      Click the "Start" button and select the option for "Search." Click the option on the left panel for "All Files and Folders."

      Type "msworks" in the text box for "All or part of the file name." Click the "Search" button.

      Double-click the "Msworks" folder and find the folder for "Mswcal." Double-click the "setup.exe" file to run the setup.

      Follow the instructions on the screen to install the Microsoft Works Calendar.
