How to Replace the Air Cleaner in a Toyota Sienna

The Toyota Sienna is a popular minivan made for transporting passengers. To help the vehicle get better fuel economy, you should regularly change filters, including the air filter. A clean air filter will ensure the van gets maximum fuel economy and optimum power by providing a steady air flow to the engine. Changing the filter only takes a few minutes.

      Open the hood to access the air filter housing. The housing will be at the back of the engine compartment on the driver side.

      Unbolt the cover from the housing with a socket wrench. There will be two bolts to remove.

      Lift the cover up slightly to access the air filter. Release the two locking tabs in the air filter housing cover to release it from the housing.

      Pull the filter out by hand and replace it with a new filter. Ensure the new filter goes in the same way as the old filter.

      Place the cover back on to the filter housing. The tabs will lock once the cover is in place.

      Start the two bolts by hand to ensure they seat correctly. Tighten with a socket wrench.

      Close the hood.
