How to Replace a Headlamp on a 2003 Acura TL

Auto headlamp bulbs can burn out, just like regular light bulbs. When the high-beam headlights on a 2003 Acura TL wear out or aren't functioning well enough, it's time for replacement. This can be done just about anywhere as long as you have replacement bulbs handy. However, do not attempt to replace the low-beam headlight bulbs on a 2003 TL, Acura warns. This needs to be done by a professional to avoid electric shock, according to Acura.

      Release the hood, lift it up, and prop open.

      Remove the radiator reserve tank if you're installing a new lamp on the driver's side of the vehicle. To remove the tank, unscrew the cap and pull the tank upward out of its bracket. Some reserve tanks, depending on the model, are secured with a bolt, Remove it with a socket or crescent wrench before attempting to pull out the tank.

      Unplug the wire harness from the headlamp bulb by pinching the connector and sliding it off the bulb.

      Rotate the bulb about a quarter-turn counterclockwise to remove it from the housing.

      Insert the new bulb into the housing, and turn it a quarter-turn clockwise to secure it.

      Reattach the wiring harness to the bulb, and make sure it is firmly secured. Test the vehicle's lights to make sure the new bulb works.

      Reinstall the radiator reserve tank by inserting it back into its bracket or securing it with the bolt, if necessary, and close the hood.
